Women's recovery residence in Kentucky
Recovery Requires More Than a Place to Stay.
The Gift House is a Christ-centered, Kentucky-certified recovery residence for women in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. Our structured three-phase program blends evidence-based recovery practices with Christian faith, personal accountability, practical support, and a genuine home environment.
Our goal is not only sobriety during the stay. We help women build the stability, skills, relationships, and daily habits needed for lasting recovery beyond our doors.
Support for the Whole Recovery Journey
When a woman enters The Gift House, she receives more than safe housing. Residents are surrounded by structure, accountability, peer support, and a Christ-centered community while rebuilding the areas of life most affected by addiction.
Support includes transportation, employment assistance, recovery meetings, life-skills education, financial education, peer support, family-restoration support, community involvement, and help managing appointments and daily responsibilities.
Residents are expected to actively participate in their recovery. The Gift House provides structure, tools, and support—but each woman must be willing to do the work.
Faith and Proven Recovery Practices—Working Together
The Gift House integrates evidence-based recovery practices with Christ-centered support in a unified approach.
Faith and practical recovery work are not separate paths. Residents are encouraged to grow spiritually while also learning how thoughts, behaviors, trauma, relationships, habits, and environment impact recovery.
Faith is central, but it is never used as a substitute for action. Residents are expected to apply what they learn, accept accountability, and build a life that supports lasting recovery.
Our approach includes
- Twelve-step participation
- Relapse-prevention education
- Cognitive behavioral skills
- Trauma-informed support
- Peer support from lived experience
- Goal setting and individualized plans
- Random drug screening
- Life-skills and financial education
- Recovery meetings
- Church and Bible study
- Personal accountability and follow-through
Recovery Becomes a Way of Life
Life at The Gift House is structured around the responsibilities residents will carry after graduation. A typical week may include employment or approved volunteering, recovery meetings, church, Bible study, classes, written assignments, peer support, household responsibilities, medical or legal appointments, family commitments, and community activities.
Transportation support is provided to reduce barriers to work, meetings, church, counseling, and other approved recovery-related needs.
The schedule is not designed to keep women busy. It is designed to build consistency, responsibility, time management, and follow-through.
What Participation Requires
The Gift House is voluntary, but participation is active and structured. Residents must fully engage in the recovery process and follow expectations that support both personal growth and household stability.
Growth is not always comfortable. Accountability may require addressing behaviors, thinking patterns, and relationships that no longer support recovery. Increased freedom is earned through consistency and responsibility.
- Work or complete approved volunteer hours

- Attend church and Bible study
- Participate in classes and complete assignments

- Avoid romantic relationships while enrolled
- Practice honesty, accountability, and respectful communication
- Demonstrate readiness before advancing phases
Important Note
The Gift House is a recovery residence—not a clinical treatment center or dual-diagnosis facility. Women who need medical detox, inpatient treatment, intensive psychiatric care, or a higher clinical level of support should complete or establish that care before entering the program.
Intentionally Small. Deeply Personal. Built for Real Life.
The Gift House is the only Kentucky-certified women's recovery residence in Breckinridge County. With space for only eight women, private bedrooms, and a home-like setting, residents are known personally rather than treated as numbers.
This small capacity allows for individualized support while maintaining clear expectations for personal responsibility.
The result is a program that supports both immediate stability and long-term life change.
